On Monday 19 July, His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States for the Holy See, visited the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital of Rome as part of the Health & Diplomacy Program.

The General Director Paolo Sormani with Professor Massimo Maria Caneva?welcomed his Excellency. During the meeting, the possible responses of the international community to current health emergencies were discussed.

One of the topics discussed was the recognition and participation of the Holy See as an Observer at the United Nations Agency of the WHO. Professor Caneva confirmed to His Excellency the desire to introduce PUCBM to the United Nations in Geneva thanks also to the collaboration with the Diplomatic Representation at the UN whose Ambassador, Gian Lorenzo Cornado, will visit the PUCBM next October.

The General Director of PUCBM, together with Dr. Marta Risari, Professor Gianpaolo Ussia?and Dr. Gianluca Basso?accompanied Msgr. Gallagher visiting the ward dedicated to private patients with Dr. Marinella Delfonso.

His Excellency praised the numerous activities guaranteed by the PUCBM, nationally and internationally, and also underlined how the logistics of the PUCBM structure were functional to the strategic goals, aimed at promoting attention to the person and his health.
